Spanish Comparison Adverbs


In Spanish adverbs (adverbios) also have comparative forms. These forms of comparisons can be of equality, inequality and quantity.

Comparisons with adverbs can be used when:

  • Comparison of equality using tan + adverb + como
    Example:
    Eres tan linda como yo.
    You are as pretty as I am.
  • Comparison of inequality using menos or más + adverb + que
    Examples:
    Luisa habla menos alto que tu.
    Luisa speaks less loudly than you.

    Ana va de compras más ahora que antes.
    Ana goes shopping more now than before.
  • Comparison based/ involving numerals using de (not que)
    Example:
    Tienes más de tres días para entregar el trabajo.
    You have more than three days to turn in the work.
